THE SPEYSIDE SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY American Oak Hogshead # 1283 Aged 22 Years Distilled – Oct’ 1998 / Bottled – Mar’ 2021 52.8% Alc.

1 of 103 bottles

Described appropriately as a “small and artisanal” distillery nestled near the Speyside hamlet of Drumguish, The Speyside Distillery uses age-old hand crafted methods to produce its single malt, patiently and unhurried with long fermentation and slow distillation. The resultant spirit is characteristically light. The distillery itself only began producing single malt in 1990, some 30 years after the planning was approved for its build. Single casks of The Speyside are seldom seen in the market so we were delighted to get our hands on this rare 1998 hogshead number 1283. Colour: Bright amber. Nose: Beautiful light floral notes of hyacinth and heather with a touch of honey sweetness. Palate: Delightfully sweet heather-honey and fresh ripe melon with just a hint of spice. Peppermint and old oak. Finish: Long and lingering cigar box and honey sweet in perfect harmony.
